Sunlit pavement in an industrial building like Carrier Global

Carrier Global leads the market in intelligent climate and energy solutions, serving customers with smart heating, cooling, and power systems. The company pairs advanced technology with efficient design to cut energy waste and lower costs for buildings worldwide.

This roundup will detail Carrier’s recent investments, earnings, new partnerships and initiatives, and the recognition it recently earned.

Carrier Global Aims to Boost U.S. Manufacturing With Additional $1 Billion Investment

On May 13, 2025, Carrier Global announced a plan to spend $1 billion over the next five years to expand its manufacturing work in the United States. This decision follows recent efforts by President Donald Trump to push more companies to build and hire within the country.

Carrier expects this move will create 4,000 new jobs. During the same time frame, the company will hire 1,000 more service technicians. It will also train over 100,000 people in climate systems sales and support roles.

Moreover, the money will go toward expanding existing facilities and building a new site focused on making heat pump components and battery parts.

This isn’t the first time Carrier has responded to political pressure. During Trump’s first term, the company, then part of United Technologies, chose to keep a factory open in Indiana rather than shift 1,400 jobs to Mexico. In return, it received $7 million in state tax breaks.

Earnings: Carrier Global Q1 2025 Results Released

Earlier this month, Carrier Global shared its first quarter results for 2025, showing strong growth and raising its forecast for the rest of the year.

“We delivered another quarter of strong financial performance,” said Carrier Chairman & CEO David Gitlin.

The company’s adjusted earnings per share rose by 27%, while profit margins improved by 2.1 percentage points. Meanwhile, sales from both the Commercial and Residential segments in Climate Solutions Americas grew by around 20%.

Carrier also reported an increase in new orders and a growing backlog. Orders rose by high single digits, and the backlog went up more than 15% from the previous quarter. The company said this momentum will support faster growth going forward, helped by its product lineup and service offerings.

Additionally, Carrier said it was able to fully offset the cost of tariffs that are currently in place.

Carrier Completes Addvolt Acquisition

On May 2, 2025, Carrier Global announced it had bought Addvolt. This Portuguese company focuses on electric transport systems.

Addvolt designs plug-in electric systems that help keep refrigerated vans, trucks, trailers, and containers cool without using fuel. These systems cut down on noise and reduce harmful emissions like nitrogen oxide, carbon dioxide, and other particles.

Additionally, Addvolt’s systems are already being used by Carrier Transicold customers in Europe, including in the Vector® eCool.

Vector® eCool is the world’s first fully electric, self-powered trailer refrigeration unit.

Edward Dryden, President of Carrier’s Climate Solutions Transportation division, said the deal will help both companies create new ideas beyond just refrigerated transport.

“This strategic partnership creates opportunity for new and emerging applications, while also continuing to build on the success we’ve already achieved together,” Dryden added.

With this move, Carrier gains advanced technology for electrification, real-time energy software, and a skilled engineering team.

The TechVantage Initiative

On January 13, 2025, Carrier Global introduced the Carrier TechVantage Initiative. This program aims to hire 1,000 new service technicians in the U.S. At the same time, it aims to train over 100,000 HVAC professionals from Carrier and its partners within five years.

Growth in data centers, large factories, and public infrastructure projects is creating a need for more technicians with hands-on experience. That’s why the company’s goal is to meet the rising demand for skilled workers in commercial HVAC. As a result, Carrier is responding by investing in people and training to keep up with these changes.

As buildings and energy systems become more complex, Carrier is also working to make sure the industry keeps pace. TechVantage is one way the company is preparing for the future.

“The demand for skilled service technicians in the U.S. has never been greater, and Carrier is uniquely positioned to lead this transformation,” said Chairman & CEO David Gitlin.

Gitlin added, “Through the Carrier TechVantage Initiative, we’re addressing critical workforce gaps and setting a new standard for excellence in HVAC service. We are shaping the future of technician development and creating an initiative designed to attract, develop, and empower the very best talent.”
