Latest Starlink News: India Grants Final Regulatory Approval for Starlink Launch

India’s space regulator, IN-SPACe, approved Starlink’s commercial launch licence on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, officially clearing the last regulatory step.

Starlink had been awaiting this clearance since 2022.

Last month, the telecom ministry gave Starlink the initial green light. However, final authorization from IN-SPACe was required before it could move forward.

Starlink’s licence is valid for five years, allowing it to begin the next phase of its rollout plans.

Reuters confirmed the approval earlier today, citing internal sources familiar with this Starlink news.

This development also puts Starlink alongside OneWeb and Reliance Jio as the only three satellite internet providers licensed to operate in India.

As part of the next steps, Starlink will need to secure spectrum from the Indian government, build out its ground infrastructure, and complete testing to meet security requirements.

Starlink News: SpaceX Launches Cape Canaveral Starlink Mission, Adds 28 New Broadband Satellites to Low-Earth Orbit

SpaceX launched the Starlink 10-28 mission at 4:21 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, deploying 28 additional satellites into low-Earth orbit.

Florida Today reported the event as part of the company’s continued schedule of back-to-back launches supporting satellite internet coverage.

The Falcon 9 booster used for this launch completed its 22nd flight and successfully landed on the drone ship A Shortfall of Gravitas in the Atlantic Ocean roughly eight minutes after liftoff.

SpaceX confirmed the satellite deployment in a post on X.

While early Federal Aviation Administration plans listed Pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center as the launch site, the final launch took place from Launch Complex 40, aligning with several recent changes made late in the process.

This flight marked the 59th orbital rocket launch from Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center so far this year.

In related Starlink news, Space Force officials also announced that SpaceX secured an $81.6 million contract for the USSF-178 mission, scheduled for the first half of fiscal 2027.
