Cohere AI, a Toronto-based artificial intelligence company founded in 2019, has quickly positioned itself as a technical partner for enterprise-scale language models.

Additionally, the company is already working with partners like  LG, Fujitsu, and Oracle.

Now, with its latest expansion into Europe and a funding round that pushed its valuation to $6.8 billion, Cohere AI is taking a direct step toward becoming a global AI infrastructure provider.

Cohere AI Establishes Paris Hub to Strengthen Global Presence

Cohere AI officially launched its Paris office on September 15, adding a European base to support its growing global operations.

This location will serve as its regional headquarters, with a focus on accelerating the adoption of secure enterprise AI across both the public and private sectors in Europe.

The move also aligns with ongoing efforts by French President Emmanuel Macron to position France as a central hub for AI development

Furthermore, the Paris team will focus on deepening relationships with regional customers, government stakeholders, and corporate partners.

At the same time, its goal is to deploy privacy-first large language models that can integrate with existing enterprise systems.

By the end of the month, Cohere expects to have 20 employees in Paris. These employees include business leads, policy specialists, and technical staff.

Additionally, they will work directly with the company’s research, safety, and engineering units.

Cohere AI Raises $500M at $6.8B Valuation to Scale Enterprise Solutions

Cohere AI closed a $500 million funding round on August 14, 2025, bringing its valuation to $6.8 billion.

The round was led by Radical Ventures and Inovia Capital, with continued backing from AMD Ventures, NVIDIA, PSP Investments, and Salesforce Ventures.

New investors also included the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), signaling continued institutional interest in enterprise-focused AI infrastructure.

This funding will go toward scaling agentic AI systems designed for complex, repetitive business tasks.

Unlike generalized consumer tools, Cohere’s models are tailored to internal workflows in sectors such as finance, telecom, and government.

In addition, Cohere AI expanded its leadership group by adding Joelle Pineau as Chief AI Officer and Francois Chadwick as Chief Financial Officer.

Conclusion

Cohere is positioning itself as a long-term infrastructure provider in enterprise AI.

The combination of capital investment, product focus, and geographic expansion suggests the company is targeting regulated industries and government partners that require control, compliance, and internal deployment.

This direction also distinguishes it from model providers chasing consumer usage or general-purpose integrations.
